Q9 What other topics are important to you for our neighborhood?
Answered: 59 Skipped: 39
1. Neighborhoods with over 600 homes should include a destination park!
2. I'd like SV to have it's own school district or be added to another district such as la Jolla
3. Traffic control signs
4. Thorough commercial building planning and lower noise emissions from commercial building infrastructure (HVAC, etc).
5. Traffic is too heavy and way too fast on Sorrento Valley Blvd. Could roundabouts, such as the ones installed in Birdrock, be an option?
Adding a neighborhood cafe/ restaurants in the business area at the bottom of Sorrento Valley Blvd. would be nice to promote community. Making sure that
the HOA gardeners don’t trim the bushes when IN BLOOM.
6. School boundaries
7. New ramps, roadways, and traffic and signal improvements at the I-5 and Sorrento Valley Rd. interchange (exit 30) including addressing the railroad crossing. The I-5 ramps should be gradeseparated from the railroad tracks.
8. Speeding on SV Blvd, often > 60 mph. Protection of the canyon - don't want a bridge over it, don't want motorcycles racing in it. Would like the overlook park to have a nicer view spot at top and path up to it.
9.
10. Reducing the speed on SVB- either another light or speed bumps or a roundabout like they’ve done throughout La Jolla
11. Protection of open spaces and preserve space. Traffic control and speeds. Some areas may need speed bumps
12. We need to slow the traffic down on Sorrento Valley Blvd. Too many hotrod kids thinking this is a racetrack.
13. Shaded park areas for kids
14. - Making Sorrento Valley Blvd and Camino Santa Fe more pedestrian friendly. Need more intersections with crosswalks. This might also help with traffic calming, and would eliminate the need for U-turns by local residents. - Enabling/encouraging more local services to open, such as a pharmacy.
15. Increase of traffic
16. Safety. Cars constantly speed and run through red lights. Everyone I know in the neighborhood has had either close calls with collisions via Pedestrian/Auto/Bicycles. A lot of people don’t even walk or run on SV Boulevard because of it.
17. More speed beacons for the cars. The cars go so fast in this neighborhood.
18. How to lower the speed or alleviate traffic on Sorrento Valley
19. Speeding is extremely important on Sorrento Valley Blvd. We have had several fatalities and accidents. We need more signage, police presence, the 45 mile an hour signs are hidden behind the trees.
20.The HOA not be a bunch of XXXXXXX.
21. Better streets ie no pot holes
22. We need to slow Sorrento Valley Blvd traffic. It is a highway now with 50-60 mph movement, bad for neighborhood safety, bad for property values, bikes, pedestrians, etc.
23. The Sorrento Valley Blvd intersection with the railroad tracks and surrounding areas should be reengineered to help mitigate traffic and flooding. Should consider moving the stations, timing the lights and railroad crossing better. Sometimes the crossings are down while the trains are sitting there for several minutes. Timing of the Coaster and Amtrak crossings so there are not 3 consecutive crossings which severely delays traffic during morning and evening rush hour
24. Keeping Sorrento Mesa small and the way it is. -just right!
25. Better schools. The schools are keeping our prop values down.
26. Reduce crime rates and increase public safety.
27. Better speed control on Sorrento Valley Blvd.
28. speed control on the boulevard - if the limit can't be effectively enforced, perhaps traffic calming features (bollard protected bike lanes, ideally a roundabout though there's probably not enough room
29. no more marijuana shops
30. Schools, community activities, safety
31. protecting the rich natural ecosystem of Los Penasquitos and Lopez canyons. they are being invaded from all sides, and the local flora and fauna are disappearing, taken over by invasive plants, and no room for animals.
32. It is important to me that the speeding is more regulated in our neighborhood, particularly on Sorrento Valley Blvd.
33. Traveling east on Sorrento Valley Blvd., consider installing a flashing alert at the uphill curve near or at Indigo Blossom Lane prior to Juniper Park Lane intersection. Drivers cannot easily see the upcoming red traffic light on Juniper Park Lane intersection. Thank you.
34. I'd like to see more mixed use zoning- it would be nice to have some convenience stores, restaurants etc. in the middle of our "residential deserts" to improve walkability.
35. Don't do stupid petty stuff to irritate home owners.
36. better access to light rail
37. Neighborhood watch. Enforcement of house and landscaping regulations. Upkeep of neighborhood appearance.
38. Keeping SV’s identity as a neighborhood of San Diego and keep our independence from Mira Mesa as a decision making entity for our future.
39. Our HOA dues reduced to $25 a month. A new HOA board who have never served and uniform landscaping instead of nice landscaping only at the west half of the development. We’re paying too much for bad landscaping services!
40. Redefining the Sorrento Valley area so that it is not part of Mira Mesa is the most important. Extend 92121 to include the houses along Calle Cristobal up to Lopez Ridge Park, north of the canyon between Calle Cristobal and Mira Mesa Blvd.
41.
42. Speed limits need to be decreased along Calle Cristobal.
43. Repave roads to fix potholes
44. Walking access to convenient stores, cafes in sorrento valley
45.
46. Maintain Sorrento Valley neighborhood. Maintain high home values.
47. Traffic speeds - getting cars to slow down, more lights and stops on Sorrento Valley Blvd
48. Removing long-term curb-parked vehicles from the neighborhood streets.
49. Traffic control on Sorrento Valley Blvd. The speeding and texting while driving are getting out of hand. Would appreciate more dog bag disposal stations on the Blvd. Would like to see the roadside turnout removed - smokers make it a fire hazard. People dump garbage there. It could be made into a small park without parking spots just for locals.
50. Schools
51. intermittent police patrols to decrease crime. Signage that clearly designates the area as Sorrento Valley. Noise abatement for SV Blvd—traffic is terrible and extremely noisy
52. Just continue to have Police randomly catch speeders on Sorrento Valley Blvd.
53. No more buildings, residential or commercial.
54. Fill the potholes in the Sorrento Valley Blvd/Sorrento Valley Road intersection area.
55. Maintaining the road divider on Sorrento Valley Bl by removing weeds on a regular basis. I’m referring to the stamped concrete at the base of the hill
56. Traffic mitigation (especially at bottom of Sorrento Valley Blvd) - train signal and lights need better management, traffic engineer needs to redefine intersections and ideally the Coaster Station would be moved further down the tracks to relieve the intersection. Fence maintenence throughout SV needs to be improved, landscape and street maintenance needs to be improved throughout SV. School district zoning for SV should also be revisited as SV is closer to schools other than Mira Mesa, this needs to firstly be addressed by a lawyer not self-serving school boards or districts.
57. Sorrento Valley Blvd is becoming a main thoroughfare during rush hour. Traffic is lighter on Mira Mesa Blvd recently. Is there anything being considered to keep people out of the neighborhood and use the main blvd instead?
58. Clean & Safe
59. More walkable urban areas (Village)

- Keep and spend ALL sales and property tax revenue collected in Sorrento Valley, in Sorrento Valley. Don't subsidize other neighborhoods, and don't let other neighborhoods subsidize us.
- Legalize small neighborhood retail so we can finally pass the "popsicle test" of a good, safe neighborhood.
- Allow street parking permits so the change to eliminate minimum parking requirements near transit stations doesn't cripple our ability to park on our streets.
- Replace some of our traffic signals and stop signs with roundabouts, to improve safety and reduce wait times.

- Continuing to keep the roads well maintained. There are certain parts that have potholes not covered well or smoothly not just on Sorrento Valley Rd, but also in the residential streets.
- Planning community events so neighbors can have a chance to meet each other would be great.
- Allowing SV residents to access Salk Elementary as our school versus choosing in would also
- be wonderful.
- A community center, perhaps with a pool with tot lot, for SV residents would entice younger families to reside here, as the original residents age and start to sell to younger families. Newer developed communities (Del Sur as an example) have these amenities and it definitely attracts the younger families to buy and live in those areas & helps to maintain not only home values, but also the type of residents we want for the SV community.
42. Speed limits need to be decreased along Calle Cristobal.
43. Repave roads to fix potholes
44. Walking access to convenient stores, cafes in sorrento valley
45.
- Fire prevention as many properties are without appropriate clearance zones.
- Commitment to maintain Lopez Canyon and Los Penasquitos Canyon as valuable natural preserves.
- Making Mira Mesa Blvd a more efficient thoroughfare so that our smaller streets are not inundated by escaping traffic as the population grows.
46. Maintain Sorrento Valley neighborhood. Maintain high home values.
47. Traffic speeds - getting cars to slow down, more lights and stops on Sorrento Valley Blvd
