The Sorrento Valley Town Council was formed in July of 2013. We are a non-profit 501c(3) public benefit corporation.
The council was organized to promote and provide economic, social and recreational development and improvement of the Sorrento Valley neighborhood of the city of San Diego and to promote the activities and interests, health and well-being of residents, private and commercial interests, and community organizations of Sorrento Valley.
As a forum for discussion and resolution of community issues, the Town Council will serve, represent, and effectively communicate ideas, recommendations, and/or concerns that impact Sorrento Valley to its residents, elected representatives, private and commercial interests, city, county, and state agencies, and other affected parties as may be appropriate.

The Sorrento Valley Town Council has worked on behalf of the Sorrento Valley neighborhood over the years on several neighborhood projects, including:
- Low-cost pet vaccination clinic
- Annual Sorrento Valley Spooktacular
- Annual Sorrento Valley Beer Festival
- Ongoing management of weed abatement
- Installation of neighborhood identification signs
- Mobile speed beacon trailer
- Crime prevention
- Tea with Santa
- The Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign
- Councilmember Cates children's book drive
The Sorrento Valley Town Council meets the third Thursday of the month at 7pm.
All Sorrento Valley residents are welcome to join our monthly meetings. Due to the pandemic, all meetings since Feb 2020 have been virtual. The neighborhood of Sorrento Valley is roughly bordered by Interstate 5 to the west, Camino Santa Fe to the east, Miramar Road to the south and the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve to the north.
There are over 5,000 residents in Sorrento Valley along with hundreds of businesses including Qualcomm, Websense, Chicken of the Sea, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and many more.
The neighborhood of Sorrento Valley falls within three San Diego Community Planning Areas: Mira Mesa, Torrey Pines, and University. Locally identifiable area of Sorrento Mesa, as well as part of the area of Miramar, fall within the boundaries of Sorrento Valley.
